Some games never get old - Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble, and Operation still remain popular today, and haven't skipped a beat in years. Others didn't share their longevity - The Real Ghostbusters board game was a fad item, and obviously wouldn't survive any longer than the tie-in cartoon. Some of the other games on the page got their fair shot to become part of Americana, but never quite caught on the way their parents companies hoped they would. The electronic teaching toys are definitely dated, since most kids play those sorts of games on shiny new computers nowadays. I'm not sure if Electronic Alphie still rages on, but there's at least a few predecessors around who took some notes from the guy. Glo-Worm seems pretty hard to kill off, too - you can still find 'em if you look hard enough.
My Buddy was another story - he's not around anymore, but ol' MB definitely left his mark. Chucky, from the Child's Play movies, was actually based on this toy. It was basically a big regular doll who served as a friendless kid's friend, racking up loads of sales sheerly by word-of-mouth and the power of a commercial jingle so entrancing that I still sing it in the shower. That's probably why everyone thinks I'm jerking off in there.
