Here's a sealed pack of Rice Krispies ponytail holders, made by Stance Industries in 1984. Snap and Pop were sadly ignored, with only "Crackle" making an appearance. I'm not sure if these were a mail-away offer on boxes of cereal or what, but I certainly can't view 'em as something that would've been sold on the retail market. That kind of kitsch craze didn't hit until more recent years -- for whatever reason, you can fill your hair with cereal characters with little fuss in 2004, but it wouldn't have been so easy twenty years ago. These ponytail holders were an awesome find in their day, especially for anyone who wanted their hair to inspire conversation circles about breakfast.
