As of press time, the standings were as follows:

It's been a close battle so far. Cobra Commander seized the lead early in the game, but in the end it's looking like Skeletor's destined to be the breakthrough prince of evil, commanding nearly a third of the vote.

We had a chance to talk with Skeletor about this unprecendented turn of events in his favor....

Skeletor: "I'm not surprised in the least! Why, who else would these fine citizens vote for? Cobra Commander? Please. His greatest achievement was hiding the fact that his voice sounded suspiciously like Starscream's. It's pretty clear who should win this thing....me, the Skull Captain. I'd like to thank the voters for their continued support!"

Skeletor sounds confident that the end results will continue to prove him as the #1 animated bad guy in television's storied history. Some have found it highly dubious that Mumm-Ra of Thundercats fame didn't make the voting cut. Megatron had this to say regarding that...

Megatron: Don't be an idiot. Mumm-Ra? Bah. Prime Evil was more of a threat, and his only adversary was a big ape pretending to be a Ghostbuster! All it took to defeat the all-mighty Mumm-Ra was to show him his reflection in a mirror. What kind of bullshit is that? Hey, heroes, if you ever want to beat Mumm-Ra, all you'll have to do is fight him in an Atlantic City hotel...or better yet...J.C. Penney's!"

Cobra Commander, who was looking to be a shoe-in in the poll's early goings, is at press time tied for third with Shredder. Never one to decline comment, the infamous head of Cobra had this to say...

Cobra Commander: "Golobulous will have your head for this! This poll's been fixed! FIXED! Noble Destro...I demand a recount...and a cough drop!"

Some feel that Skeletor's scary skeleton head is what's causing his impressive showing. Others feel it's a 'pity vote', as Skeletor's vulnerability to the Christmas spirit probably left him in a bad frame of mind. Either way, he's certainly on top, but even the poll's villain with the least percentage, Starscream, feels he'll end up coming out on top.

Starscream: "Pathetic fools! How dare you vote for Skeletor! Look what he was up against! A Chippendale's dancer, a midget with an 'O' on his shirt, and some little sissy girl named Teela! I was going against DIE CAST METAL! I should be in the lead! Me me me!!!!"
