12/01/2003 Entry: "An X-E X-Masss."

Ho ho HOOOO, we're off. X-E's...what is it...third? Think so. X-E's third Christmas season is up and running, and I hope you're Catholic, 'cause you be in for a lot of holiday treatin' yo ho ho ho. The main page has been given a facelift to reflect the festivities, and it's probably as colorful as you'll ever see this site. More importantly, after spending the past year shielding death threats because I didn't finish last year's Advent Calendar, I figured the best avenue of defense was to simply create a new one -- a better one, that would rise from the ashes of last year's incomplete and terribly organized fiasco like the god damned Christmas Phoenix, bigger, stronger, more Santa-entrenched than ever. It's X-E's Advent Calendar...Year 2!

Those who've been around for a while might remember last year's -- everyday (in theory), I added a new review using the toys and doodads found on Playmobil's Advent Calendar set. Well, guess what? Playmobil's made a new one. That's on there. Will there be any new appearances from a certain Mare Winningham? You'll have to wait and see. Course, there's a lot more going on with this year's A.C. than mere Playmobil baubles...

The bulk of this month's content will be two other mini-articles placed within each entry on the Calendar. One article will tackle an old Christmas commercial, complete with review and download. Now lemme tell ya...I've been saving some of these for months, and while some are basic fun, others are abshowutely insane. Seriously...Christmas brings out the best and worst in advertising, and we're going to see it all.

The second mini-article on each entry is reminiscent of the Halloween Countdown -- reviews of all the assorted Christmas-themed crapola assaulting our grocery and department stores. I've been stockpiling this junk for well over a month now, so there's tons to cover. Not even sure they'll be enough time in the month to get around to all of it, but I'll try.

As a connoisseur both of old commercials and current crap, I'm definitely excited about what's coming up this month. You'll get a better feel for what we'll be dealing with by visiting the Advent Calendar, or more specifically, today's entry. Aside from opening up the first of 25 Playmobil gift boxes, you get reviews of Kraft's "Holiday Mallows," and an old Toys 'R' Us ad where Geoffrey peddles Hulk Hogan figures. I didn't want to blow my Christmas wad on December 1st, so rest assured, the best stuff is yet to come.

While most of this month's content will be lumped into the calendar entries, you can surely expect some full-length Christmas features. Good, crazy ones. Good -N- CRAZY. Hope everyone enjoys it...let's have some holiday fun before January Depression sets in.

I'm sprucing up some of the images now, but everything should be active. It'll just be a bit prettier by morning. :)

Matt, as a die hard Hulkamaniac, anything even remotely related to the Hulkster is a blessing to me. I'll look forward to that commercial, thanks for the heads up.

This first entry alone redeems last years painful cliffhanger. The Christmas Phoenix has risen and is flying up to the North Pole to meet up with Santy Claus to get the holiday cheer all up in this piece. Word to your reindeer, hatas.

Heeloyd, if you're serious about going on Atkins, make sure you read up on it. People are getting real sick off of that diet because of the high fat and cholesterol. I have known a couple of people who came off it because of the latest news stories.
That said, hooray for X-Emas! Mutant marshmallows and dead giraffes-it don't get any better! Well, yeah, it did because there was a midget plastic snowman too! Those marshmallows looked like frikking pillows in the cocoa. In fact, I wanted to eat those far less than I wanted to taste the ooze from the last article and that worries me.

yeah I've been researching about it, and I have relatives that have been successful with it too. The first 2 weeks are the most extreme, but if i can make it through that then the rest is a piece of cake(but no cake allowed) ;)

I had a few of them wrasslin' guys. It was some Christmas present from a relative who hardly knew me. Of course, I had no intrest in wrestling at the time, so besides Mr. Hogan, I had no idea who the hell they were. All I can remember though, is that at that age I thought the Iron Shiek looked exactly like my grandpa. It was rad. Staging fights between Hulk Hogan and your grandparents is not something everyone can do. I was a very lucky kid. Except I think that was the same year my dickhead uncle gave me wooden blocks with car stickers on them for Christmas. That was dumb.

January is not depressing to me I have a birthday in that month. My cousin is a Hulk fan, he's been one since the 80s. He was sad when he found out Mr. America was Hulk Hogan. When I was little he showed me his Hulk figure and I said "Hulk Hogan wears underwear." my cousin, mom and aunt thought that was so funny because I was like 2 at the time.

I've been comming to this site for over a year and comment infreak-went-ly, but hear me out. I can't get your tv adds. What format are they? It's probably 'cause I'm a Mac user. If that's not It let me know, 'cause if there's a commercial I'll go through some trouble to see, it's He-Man versus Modulock. I hope one of you or Matt yourself can explain.

I love the new look. Something about that blue snowman draws me...
I could never do those advent calenders. I'm too impatient and would open the little boxes all kinds of early. It's an emotional high, tallying up your little plastic goods and puting them in color coordinated piles, but once that wore off, all you were left w/ was a bunch of empty boxes and 20 days until Christmas.

It's definately beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go. From X-Entertainment looking holiday bright to my own tree finally going up despite scratches and having to fiddle with the lights and forgetting the candy canes, I'm feeling the spirit of the season.

I'm looking forward to my second (and Matt's third) wacky holiday with X-Entertainment!
